Did you know that there are at least ten women named Diana Marks currently living in the United States? Therefore, my writer’s name is Diana F. Marks, but for the most part I am simply Diana Marks.
I was born and raised in Colorado. Fond memories include camping in national parks and fishing along the Arkansas River. I was a writer before I was a reader (figure that out!), and my favorite childhood book was The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I became a third-generation teacher, and my first year of teaching was in a small Colorado community near the Kansas border.
I married Peter Marks and we moved to Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where again I became a teacher, eventually working with gifted children. I taught every grade from kindergarten through grade eight. I also conducted numerous workshops for my school district, the Bucks County Intermediate Unit, the Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education, and other districts and organizations. I have also presented at many conferences, including the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association and the New Jersey Association of School Librarians.
I taught for over 36 years in public schools. Then I served as a consultant to school districts where I helped improve literacy. I continue to write. In addition to myseven published books, I have completed a children’s book about a girl named Dahlia who helps animals and humans solve problems. I just need to find a publisher! I love to visit schools and libraries and share my passion for reading and writing. I continue to aid children through mentorship, research, and innovation.
Now my husband and I reside in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. I am the proud grandmother of three children and the mother of two adult sons. I love to read (especially mysteries) and I write just about every day. I also enjoy gardening, walking, and bicycling. My volunteer activities have ranged from being a soccer coach to hosting summer activities at the local library to nurturing our community’s nature trail, including a fairy garden.
